The mid-range Oral-B Pro Care 3000 chargeable electric toothbrush is easy to get for just ninety-nine pounds and has some standard options, the Triumph 5000 is an element of the better Oral-B brush range, sells from less than £170 and gives you many extra features which sets it apart from other electric brushes. Are these brushes as good as the glorious Philips electric toothbrush range?

Both models have 3 interchangeable brush heads: precision clean, floss action and 3 dimensional white brushes, which administer three dimensional cleaning where the brush pulsates 40,000 times per minute, oscillates and revolves 8800 times per minute to get rid of twice as much plaque as a normal toothbrush. Model 3000 has 3 modes: daily clean for outstanding cleaning of teeth and gums, delicate clean for delicate yet radical cleaning of delicate areas and polish mode for polishing and whitening of the teeth by stain cleansing. The Triumph 5000 has a further 2 cleaning modes: deep clean for a comprehensive, dentist clean feeling, and massage for mild kick of gums.

The Victory 5000 model has been slimmed back down for a sophisticated look, includes a travel case and the newest technology in the form the wireless digital Smart Guide unit, which has a Star Reward system to prompt brushing. The unit also has a timer, pressure alert, quadrant prompt and ‘replace brush head ‘ indicator and wireless syncs with the toothbrush to give real-time feedback on teeth cleaning.

The Star Reward system consists of 5 stars that illuminate one by one as teeth are brushed, the highest number of stars when brushed properly in the allocated time. The quadrant prompt informs the user after 30 seconds to sweep a different area of the mouth, so helping to thoroughly clean all 4 quadrants. The Triumph 5000 will also memorise total brushing time and let you know when to replace the brush head.

Both models feature the Treble Action Pressure Control System with auditory, visual and sensory signals that inform the user if they are brushing their teeth with too much force. When excessive pressure is utilized while brushing, the pulsating action is halted and a red light flashes on the handle. The brushing mode is switched to ‘sensitive ‘ so reducing the brushing speed and stopping teeth and gum damage. Both models have a straightforward to reach stop button and colour LED handle displays so battery charge lifespan and brushing mode can be seen simply. A two-minute timer is built into the handle of the model 3000 to monitor perfect brushing time.

Model 3000, as part of the Oral-B Professional Care range of electrical toothbrushes, has been granted a Gold award by the British Dental Health Foundation. Oral-B’s Victory 5000 is the only electrical toothbrush approved by the British Dental Health Foundation with the highest platinum rating, the CEO of the UK Dental Health Foundation giving it maximum number of points for a rechargeable toothbrush.
